We Organised Allied Healthcare for HomeCare Package Holders
NovaCare coordinates Allied Healthcare for our homecare package consumers.
After an assessment we will discuss with you what kind of support (if any) would be a benefit to you at home.
Part of homeCare package funding can be allocated towards Allied Healthcare Professionals, such as Physiotherapists, Occupational Therapists, GPs and more.
At NovaCare, we employ internal Allied Health Professionals, however can also help our consumers to access external providers.

Choosing the Correct Healthcare Supports
NovaCare consumers are directly supported by our professional OTs, Physios and Registered Nurses.
As part of our commitment to our homecare package consumers, our team helps to develop an individual care plan for our consumers. The care plan includes
- Allied health interventions, visitations (ie. twice weekly Physio)
- Registered nurse visits (ie. support with wound care, diabetes management etc)
- Referrals to specialists in Allied health sectors
- Support from internal Allied health assistants
NovaCare has brokered agreements with a number of credentialled Allied health providers in the Hunter region to utilise where appropriate.

Allied Health FAQ
- What is an Allied health assistant?
An Allied health assistance is a person who holds a Certificate III or IV in Allied Health Assistance.
They are trained to attend people’s homes to support the consumer to complete the treatment plan that has been prescribed by a clinician. An example of this is to support someone through massage, stretching and other activities such as using a Tens machine.
NovaCare offers Allied Health Assistants as a cost effective alternative to a Physio/OT.
- In what ways will I be supported by NovaCare’s administration?
At NovaCare, your dedicated case manager is the centerpiece of communication in terms of managing a consumers care plan. Their role includes:
- Storing a copy of clinical reports
- Hosting team meetings with clinical and non-clinical care staff to discuss supports
- Booking and creating referrals with other providers
- Advising on budgeting and expenditure, paying external providers
- Ongoing management of long-term situations such as home modifications
- Can NovaCare’s transport take me to my healthcare appointments?
Yes.
We can handle all of this. Examples include attending hydrotherapy as a group and attending individual appointments.
- I'm soon to be a NovaCare homecare Consumer. Do you need any information from my Allied health team?
Yes.
As part of setting up your homecare package with NovaCare, we would seek your consent to approach your Allied health team to access details about their healthcare record.
Assuming consent is granted, we would use that information to start to develop a care plan.
- Can NovaCare help me access health programs such as online classes or group classes, or social services that are of benefit to my health?
Yes.
NovaCare currently provides a number of health related services through our social services, including:
- Online strength, balance, relax and other exercise classes
- Small group Physiotherapy sessions
- Weekly trips to Hydrotherapy (namely Morriset pool, but we can go anywhere)
